Consider our client, "Ester." Ester became homeless after he was laid off from his job and experienced serious mental health issues, stemming from the death of his sister. Soon, he was calling the streets his "home" and was turning to drugs and alcohol to numb his pain. He moved around for years--sleeping in shelters, converted motels, and in hospital beds. He finally decided he was done with the streets and found Renaissance Social Services. We helped him find a place to live, helped him find furniture and housewares, and followed up with him to make sure he was settling into his new home. It took almost one year, but Ester says that "listening to my case manager helps me stay sober, manage my mental health issues and move forward."
Renaissance Social Services exists to help men and women like Ester. Every year, we serve almost 700 people by helping them find homes, manage their mental and physical health, and connect with critical resources.
